- Key points of the course need to be coned off to ensure the runners are aware of which way they are running.
- High visibility jackets need to be handed out to all event officials, to ensure the runners know who they can talk to for information and so they can be seen in poor weather conditions.
- The start/finish line needs to be made visible and the funnel finish needs to be erected.
- Turn up on time.
- Ensure the course is safe.
- Make sure all the runners are wearing the correct kit.
- Bring the necessary equipment to set out the course.
- Prepare tickets for competing athletes.
- Prepare the IT equipment for the race officials to log the race results.
- School teachers need to be made aware of what time each race is running and who will be running in each event.
- Each official needs to be posted on their point of the course to ensure the race runs as smoothly as possible and the runners are fully aware of what is required of them.
- Ensure each individual race is started at the right time and the participants complete the correct number of laps.
- Keep a look out for injuries to the runners and report any to the race director.
- Hand out completion tickets to each runner than completes the race he/she is participating in.
- Act responsibly.
- Report cheaters.
- Encourage all of the runners.
- Ensure the track is clear after the race.
- Ensure all equipment is collected and the fields are left clear and tidy.
- Ensure all tickets have been handed in and logged.
- Give positive feedback to teachers and most importantly athletes.
